JUST MEMORIES

Written by Kaye Parker

Pre television we would sit in the kitchen by the old meters wood stove with our ears pointed to the bakerlite radio on the kitchen ledge. If I wasn't feeling well (hhmm?), mum let me stay home from school. She would stop her house duties at 10.00 am and we would listen to a radio serial called 'Dr. Paul' while having morning tea. At 1.00 pm we listened to 'Blue Hills' by Gwen Meredith. This one had a particular theme tune which I remember well.

After tea, 'thats dinner' these days, we never missed an episode of 'Life with Dexter', which was hilarious. Another weekly radio series at night was called  "Dosier on Demetri", which I found a bit scarey. After listening to that I jumped straight into bed, after checking underneath it first for monsters. I hoped I would be asleep before my parents turned the lights out.
Just memories from a not so young Albany kid.

Also remember "Dad and Dave", "The Argonaughts" and "The Wilfred Thomas Show".
